On Saturday, July 28, 2018 members of HCE staff participated in the 11th annual Treasure Coast Waterway cleanup. Utilizing two boats, our team spent the morning cruising around the North Fork of the St. Lucie River collecting trash and debris that littered the waterway. We were amazed at what we found: tires, screen, buckets, 55-gallon drums, fuel containers, plastic chairs, and even a pair of shoes! By the end of the day, we didn’t have enough room on the boats to collect anything else. Our team estimates that we collected well over 200 pounds of trash! It was a great day out on the water and we are thrilled to be able to improve our community by helping clean up our natural areas. HCE looks forward to participating in this event again next year, and we encourage everyone to do their part to help keep our waterways clean and trash free.
